You’ve read all about it. You’ve seen footage; images. There’s been reports. Others confirm it. Yet, it’s probably, and probably highly probably, false, even if only by selective ommission, or incompleteness. You are never safe in the current world of ravenous media wannabefirstness.

James Watt, co-founder of BrewDog, in his delightfull and sprightly book, Business for Punks, says, “You need to be a communication genius. If you’re not a good communicator… you are just wasting everybody’s time. Unless you’re almost at oracle status, you don’t have a chance of getting your team aligned; of getting people excited about what you do; or of effectively negotiating.

“Everything you say makes perfect sense in your head. The hard part is ensuring that it makes perfect sense for the person or people you are saying it to as well.

“Open the door for ambiguity or misinterpretation and you also let in doubt. Then you really are screwed.

“So, do the prep, and take the time to deliver top-dollar communication, whatever the medium.

“Put thought into what you say and how you say it.”
